Open-ended assignments are less prone to solutions created through generative AI or standard solutions shared between students.
What I'm really afraid of with giving too much structure and templates, especially nowadays, is that you just put it into ChatGPT and then you say 'do it' and then the more you give the structure, the more it's like accurate.
I could make a closed assignment, but then a sort of standard will emerge. Or I need to revise the assignment every year. Or a sort of best solution emerges. That seemed like a dangerous situation to me. [...] Then that solution is bound to get passed around, of course, so that doesn't seem ideal to me.
