We have quite a lot of students, so if we want to assess it, it has to go in some automated way.

They can understand where the grade comes from that they get and that it isn't something we just make up, but that there are clear criteria and those are applied objectively. So I think that is one of the main benefits of automated testing as much as possible or working with detailed rubrics, that it is objective and that there is relatively little discussion.
